Hey there!

I’m so thrilled that you’ve found me! My name is Abryana (A-bri-ona) Young. I’m originally from Orange County but moved to San Diego where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development with an emphasis in Health Science. 

If you asked me 3 years ago what I’d do for a living, I would’ve said without hesitation: labor and delivery nurse. However, God has a way of taking your previous experiences and using them as a foundation for what you’re supposed to be doing. It warms my heart to know my background has led me to be a doula that can support families during a challenging yet rewarding time of their lives. So what exactly is a doula?

A doula is a trained individual that provides emotional, physical, and informational support in preparation for birth or postpartum. My favorite thing about being a doula: guiding families through the newborn learning curve, but also empowering them with evidence-based research to make informed decisions. There’s so much to learn when it comes to pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Unfortunately, most of it isn’t taught in school, and western society does a disservice to just how important the fourth trimester is for baby and parent. There are many prenatal appointments and only one postpartum check-up; we can do better than that!

My professional training as a Certified Lactation Counselor, Birth, and Postpartum Doula have allowed me to focus on my caregiving skills and love for helping others make smooth transitions through such a new time in their life.

As a woman of color, I know how important it is to feel seen and heard instead of being considered just another number. When we work together, I can assure you that you will receive the care and attention that your family deserves. This is the time to be nurtured and tended to instead of stressing about reading the right books or if you’re feeding your baby too much/too little. I’m your guide to assist with anything from creating a birth plan to entertaining your little gift while you sleep.
